Around the age of 4 or 5 Eric watched the movie "Jack Frost" which included a snowman turned into a snow"girl". Innocently, Eric thought seeing breasts on a snowman was one of the funniest things he had ever seen . . . a boy was turned into a girl!
From that point on Eric always drew his snowman to look like the snowgirl. He drew it everywhere! Even when we made snowmen in the wintertime our whole family would make snowgirls instead of snowmen.
The importance of what we now refer to as "Eric's Snowman" came 2 weeks before he passed away when he drew the one on this page for his Grandma. Eric's Snowman (without the girl parts) has now become our theme for all of our fundraising events for the Eric Hartwell Foundation. And, in support of the new University of Michigan C.S. Mott Children's Hospital, the Eric Hartwell Foundation has donated a tile made from Eric's last drawing that will be displayed in the new building.
