THE ERIC HARTWELL FOUNDATION: WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO SO PASSIONATELY
The Eric Hartwell Foundation is a non-profit charitable foundation created in memory of Eric Hartwell (diagnosed ALL Ph+ on June of 2004 and passing on December 6, 2004) that seeks to provide direct support to children diagnosed with pediatric blood cancers, increase awareness about the severity and prevalence of childhood blood cancers, and to provide support for medical research in finding the causes and, more importantly, the cures. The EHF holds non-profit 501(c)3 status.
WHEN IT COMES TO PEDIATRIC CANCERS, THE FACTS ARE DEVASTATING...
Cancer is the #1 cause of death by disease in children.
Every day, 35 children are diagnosed with pediatric cancer. Seven of those children will not survive.
Pediatric blood cancers know no boundaries of age, gender, race or economic status.
While many adult cancers can be linked back to lifestyle factors, the cause of childhood cancers remains largely unknown.
While the U.S. dedicates a yearly $5 billion toward cancer research, only 3% of that is allotted to pediatric cancer research.
This disease can take our precious children from us without warning.
Race to raise funds for the children in the C.S. Mott's Children's Hospital cancer unit.
A delicious fund raising event to support children and families battling cancer.
